The Studio

As the creator of a range of gardens – ornamental, kitchen and herb, Robert’s approach to growing is holistic. He places nature at the heart of his work and always strives to garden regeneratively, which supports the wellbeing of both wildlife and people. Robert creates spaces in which people can immerse themselves in the beauty of plants, as well as connect meaningfully to nature.

Garden Philosophy

Roberts believes that gardens can be engines for environmental restoration. He uses regenerative practices – growing organically, without the use of pesticides and adopting diverse planting schemes to create spaces that enhance soil health and support biodiversity.

Robert begins every project by assessing the local climate, soil conditions and available sunlight in the growing space. This helps ensure that the chosen plants will thrive in their environment and require minimal intervention to flourish. Whenever possible he chooses plants that promote biodiversity, as these are best adapted to the local ecosystem and support local wildlife.

This naturalistic approach, using principles such as layering, repetition and variety, produces a garden offering foliage, colour and year-round interest. Robert considers the whole ecosystem of the garden to create a regenerative sanctuary of natural beauty that delights the eye and nourishes body and soul.
